Me and my Ties

Whew, I have been caught up in the swirl and tyranny of the urgent. Blogging has taken a backseat for a while. I may not have been that faithful in writing (uggh. I can feel needle pricks in here) but whoa, there are lots to be thankful for for the first half of the year.

1.) Family Trips
The Flores fam went on a three-day furlough to Baguio in January. We hopped in our five-year old, still reliable L3 on a road trip to Central Luzon, briefly passing by Philrice where Dad had to follow-up on the rice varieties he, as representative as Advanta, had tested. We also met up with Ate Evelyn B and spent our lunch with her and her two lovable boys.

Baguio? It's still a wonder to me despite the obvious congestion and the growing pollution.Establishments-big and small have mushroomed just about anywhere. Tourism there is indeed alive and bustling.
Of course, we let the kids enjoy Baguio's sights -- Mines View, Burnham Park, Wright Park, Camp John Hay (where we strolled in The Manor's victorian -inspired gardens)and PMA, where Orvik watched the cadets marching in formation on the way to the Mess Hall. Ha, ha, the cutie held his 2-minute snappy salute to the delight of the famished cadets.
For me, the Baguio experience is incomplete sans ukay-ukay shopping-- well, this was a personal agenda, and how I relished the time, never mind if I got to sniff all kinds of dust in there. The Bayanihan shops are a minefield for avid shoppers. You just bring a strong pair of legs and yup, patience.
Well, we were back on May 25-27 in Baguio this time with Nanay (who spent a week in Boracay as a treat from my twin brother and his family. Wow, jetsetter si Mader!)
We rented a condotel with kitchen where we got to cook our meals. The place was impressive and the amenities even surpass those of a hotel's. We always stay in hotels whenever we go up and it's only now that we realized it is a lot better to stay in a fully-furnished condotel. It has a homey feel and a lot more relaxing.

2.) Business Opportunity

Another thing to be thankful is the opportunity to start our financing business courtesy of a heaven-sent sister who trusted in us and in our ability to run a business. We are still in the start-up stage but the clients are starting to come first in trickles and later by the hordes. Oh, I just pray for the success of this latest "baby". With all the businesses we engaged in for the last ten years, I feel more confident now to take calculated risks.May my MBM degree work for our businesses.

3.) Freedom from Pressure
I am pressure-free! Nobody tells me to write lengthy speeches, check student papers and draft write-ups for somebody else. I do what I do , because I choose to do it. Ain't that liberating?
